Receiving Payments with FedNow

Discover what FedNow is and how you can receive instant payments into your Wallbit account using this service.

Written by Diego Vega

At Wallbit, we always strive to be at the forefront of payment technology and banking services. That’s why you can now use the FedNow service to receive instant payments into your account, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (including weekends and holidays).

Plus, receiving payments via FedNow comes at no cost on Wallbit.

What is FedNow?

FedNow is the Federal Reserve's instant payment system, designed to modernize money movement within the U.S. banking ecosystem. It allows both individuals and businesses to send and receive transfers in a matter of seconds.

Unlike traditional methods, FedNow works similarly to other global instant payment systems—such as Pix in Brazil or SEPA Instant in Europe.

Key features include:

  • Instant delivery: Funds are transferred and credited to the recipient's account in real-time.

  • Full availability: It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (including weekends and bank holidays).

  • Maximum security: Built on the Federal Reserve's own infrastructure, it features the financial industry's highest standards of protection and encryption.

How Does FedNow Work with Wallbit?

With Wallbit, you have a bank account capable of receiving transfers from any institution that is part of the FedNow network. You can check the list of participating banks in the FedNow system.

To receive a payment through this system, just follow these steps:

  1. Get your banking details: Open your Wallbit app, go to the “Main Account” section, and you will see your account details. You can view the full information by selecting “View deposit details.”

  2. Share the information: Provide your Routing Number and Account Number to the person, company, or digital platform sending you the funds.

  3. Automatic processing: When the sender makes the transfer from their bank using the instant payment option, the system will detect FedNow compatibility and process the deposit immediately.

Things to Keep in Mind

To ensure your transfers are processed smoothly through this instant network, we recommend reviewing the following key points:

  • Sending bank: Both the receiving account and the sending bank must be enrolled in the FedNow network. If the person or company sending you money uses a bank that hasn't joined the network yet, the transfer will automatically be sent through traditional channels like ACH (which usually takes 1 to 3 business days) or a wire transfer.

  • Sending limits: Although Wallbit does not impose a strict limit on receiving these funds (aside from your standard account transaction limits), sending institutions may have their own maximum limits.

  • Exclusive currency: The FedNow network operates exclusively in U.S. dollars (USD). Make sure the sender transmits funds directly in this currency.
